Getting Involved with The King Mountain Community Garden

Updated: Apr 1

Hello neighbors!

The KMNA is proud to announce the opening of the King Mountain Community Garden. The KMNA PROS subcommittee has been working closely with the Parks Department to create a beautiful and functional space. That work includes reactivation of an existing well, the installation of high quality fencing, gates, irrigation and a tool shed.

There will be 48 plots and 12 individual raised beds, including 2 Accessible beds.

How to Get a Plot:

The Wait List:

Email parks@cob.org and ask to be placed on the King Mountain Community Garden Wait-list (we highly recommend jumping on the wait-list as interest in the garden has been growing). The waitlist ensures that you will be personally notified via email when registration is about to open.

April 3rd, Registration Day:

The City opens up First-Come-First-Serve Registration on the morning of April 3rd. Plots go fast, so be sure to get on the notification waitlist (parks@cob.org)  and put it on your calendar. Plots cost $30 per year.

April 15th, Assignment Day:

The City will assign individual plots to the gardeners (i.e. plot B6, E5, D3, etc). Plots are 10' x 10' and one per gardener. There are also raised beds (3' x 7'x 2' high) as an alternative. They are also one per gardener.

April 20th, Launch Party and Orientation:

This will be our first work party ever!!! All are welcome to come out and connect with the Garden Committee, prep beds, answer questions and start caring for this space. You do not need to be a gardener to come help out. We will be hanging out, moving wheelbarrows of compost and putting finishing touches on the fencing system. There will even be a neighborhood expert demonstrating fruit tree pruning! Event details can be found here.

Please help us spread the word to anyone who might be interested, especially those with limited access to growing space.

Also, we are looking for volunteers for the Garden Committee. Let us know if you are interested (info@kmna.org). We are happy to flesh out the volunteer job description.

Sincerely, The KMNA PROS Subcommittee
